history

hey kids,

was just reading the 'listener' last night and noticed a column by a young matt nippert. that name resonated within me, and when i finally remembered i pulled his business card out of wallet, he gave it to me somewhere around tirau.

it was christmas eve 2004, and he was hitch-hiking from auckland to wellington, and i helped get from mercer to tirau, (on my way to rotorua), but not only was he a hitch-hiker, he was also a staff writer for the listener. writing a column about his hitch-hiking escapades.

sadly i didn't make it into the final cut, and if you want to you can check it out here

as he said when i emailed him, 'you had some tough competition' from the other characters on his trip.
the one suprising thing - i had heard of hitch-hiking evangelism before, but this guy got a lesson form the mormons and then 2 young lass's blazed radio rhema on the way down, i didn't get into the gospel, but told him a little bit about trinity and stuff. the funniest dude would have to be the fulla with the crossbow in the backseat to sort out some business dealings - reminds of my t-shirt 'machete express - don't leave home without one in your boot'

fun times.

lets hear it for hitch-hiking!
